Probably one of the most physically impressive people to ever live.

For sure, an absolute specimen. One of the first athletes I ever worked with on strength and conditioning, I think it was back in 1998 or 1999, was a state level high school wrestler and without having mich exposure to the sport prior was absolutely blown away at the level of conditioning, and static strength, he possessed. Wrestlers are hands down some of my favorite to train, some of the hardest workers on the planet.

I interned with Wisconsin volleyball years ago primarily but also with swim & dive a bit and a couple times with their wrestling team. It's the big 10 so they're all really high level. The wrestlers are on a different level lol. I'd be at the facility to prep for AM training for the volleyball girls. The wrestlers would train right before them, I think their time was at 6am but they were told to get there 5-10 min early. They'd be there at 530a "warming up" (it was an intense warmup, they were all dripping sweat by 6am) upstairs on the indoor turf.

I remember when they came down into the weight room they were told to just wait for instruction but they immediately hopped on a bike, rower, or treadmill. I saw one kid looked around at all the taken equipment and he was tweaking out that he didn't have something to do. Those groups were the first really high level athletes I ever worked with, it's immediately obvious even after 1 session why these kids were at the level they're at. I don't think i've ever seen a group of people work as hard as they all did.

That's awesome! I trained a NAPS student who was going to Anapolis to wrestle in their 181 class. His senior year he placed 8th at the NCAA tournament after being seeded 25th and tearing a hamstring in the quarters. The mental toughness is on another level! He came back to train after graduation before starting his military career, and the stories of their conditioning sessions were borderline terrifying. They are the toughest, most durable athletes on the planet. I think hockey players are not far behind on the toughness/durability scale!

Fun to learn about this monster!

The video at the end was the perfect pre workout motivation montage I didn’t know I needed before a garage gym lift!
